ABOUT FMP

We are Fundação Escola Superior do Ministério Público (Higher School of the Public Prosecutor’s Office) of Rio Grande do Sul. An institution dedicated to legal education, born from the desire to bring together multiple paths and, in doing so, create unique opportunities for learning and community for those who pass through here. We are a private organization, founded by Prosecutors and State Attorneys. Over our 41 years, we have built one of the largest legal networks in Brazil, fostering connections and relationships that accelerate learning and propel lives forward. We offer a benchmark in education, where tradition refines the search for answers to contemporary challenges in building a fairer country. We believe in a welcoming environment where relationships are opportunities for intellectual growth. We are building our future based on the legacy that brought us here: an education that improves the world.

Maximum score in the Ministry of Education (MEC) evaluation.

The only Private Law School in Rio Grande do Sul to be granted the OAB Recomenda (OAB
Recommends) seal on two consecutive occasions.

Certified twice in a row by the ABMES (Brazilian Association of Maintainers of Higher Education) for the social actions carried out in the 2019/2020 period.

Highest approval rate in the OAB (Brazilian Bar Association) Examination among private
institutions in RS.

Among the six best Brazilian Law Schools and the only private Law school in Porto Alegre to receive the highest grade in the Guia da Faculdade (Colleges Guide) – Estadão, 2020.

Eleventh place in the ranking of the best Private Law Schools in Brazil according to the Exame de Ordem em Números (Bar Examination in Numbers) survey.

Our History

1983

Escola Superior do Ministério Público (Higher School of the Public Prosecutor’s Office) was founded on November 30 by Prosecutors and State Attorneys, offering a Preparatory Course for the Public Prosecutor’s Office exam.

2000

FMP launches its first graduate course—a Lato Sensu specialization.

2005

Faculdade de Direito da Fundação Escola Superior do Ministério Público (Law School of the Higher School of the Public Prosecutor’s Office) is established. That same year, FMP obtained accreditation for its Bachelor of Law program.

2011

FMP receives recognition for its Bachelor of Law program from the Ministry of Education (MEC).

2013

It becomes the only private Law school in Porto Alegre and the Metropolitan Region to receive the ‘OAB Recommends’ Seal.

2016

The first Master’s degree class begins.

2017

FMP is authorized to offer graduate Lato Sensu courses in the Distance Learning (EaD) format.
