I EGRUPE - 2017

The event took place on December 5th, 2018, at the premises of the Foundation School of the Public Ministry. The event aims to foster internal dialogue between faculty and students from the Stricto Sensu Graduate Programs in Law at FMP, UNISC, UNIVALI, and UNESC, thus contributing to the improvement of research projects under development within the research lines of their respective programs, as well as to the exchange of knowledge and relationships between researchers from the participating institutions. It also seeks to encourage interaction between professors and master’s students and undergraduate Law students.

Working Group 01 – Public Policies in Fundamental Rights and Jurisdiction: Changing Interconnections. This working group aims to discuss topics related to public policies in human rights, judicial activism, and constitutional jurisdiction in this area, always evaluating concrete cases – including international ones, with our partners – for the exchange of experiences and comparative law studies.

Working Group 02 – State, Market, and Society: Equations of Balance. This working group aims to address the complex problems affecting the current Risk Society we live in, especially issues involving diffuse and collective rights at local, regional, national, and international levels, some of them intensely interconnected, and the solutions that the Law has to propose.

Working Group 03 – Public Safety and Criminal Policy: The Expansion of Penal Intervention in Contemporary Society. This working group aims to explore the theme of the expansion of penal intervention through material and procedural means, influenced by new risks and security demands specific to the current Risk Society we live in, addressing local, regional, national, and international issues, some of them intensely interconnected, and the solutions that the Law has to propose.

II EGRUPE - 2018

The Research Groups Meeting was created within the scope of the Graduate Program in Law at FMP, with the goal of fostering dialogue among the different research groups and promoting joint academic production. In the first edition, two Working Groups (WGs) were held, one for each research line of the Program, with representative works from the Research Groups of FMP’s Graduate Program in Law presented.

In this second edition, the scope of the Meeting was expanded beyond the limits of FMP’s Master’s Program, with the participation of research groups from the Graduate Programs of the University of Santa Cruz do Sul (UNISC) and the University of Southern Santa Catarina (UNESC). The event, held at FMP in October 2018, included four WGs, addressing three themes that represent the research lines of the involved Graduate Programs: (WG01) public policies in fundamental rights and jurisdiction: changing interconnections; (WG02) state, market, and society: equations of balance; and (WG03) public safety and criminal policy: the expansion of penal intervention in contemporary society. A total of fifty-four works were presented, of which thirty-nine were approved for publication in the event proceedings. These numbers highlight the academic community’s participation and the success of the working methodology, which fosters academic relationships among the Graduate Programs involved, thus encouraging internal dialogue between faculty and students from the Stricto Sensu Graduate Programs in Law at FMP, UNISC, and UNESC.

In this way, the event aims to contribute to the improvement of the research projects under development within the research lines that compose their respective programs, promote the exchange of knowledge and relationships between researchers from the participating institutions, and encourage interaction between professors, master’s students, and undergraduate Law students.

III EGRUPE - 2019

The Research Groups Meeting is an academic project of the Graduate Program in Law at FMP, aimed at fostering dialogue and joint academic production among the different research groups linked to the research projects of the institution, as well as partner institutions. From the second edition onward, the Meeting has included the participation of research groups from the Graduate Programs of the University of Santa Cruz do Sul (UNISC) and the University of Southern Santa Catarina (UNESC).

In the third edition, the Meeting was held at the campus of the University of Santa Cruz do Sul (UNISC), with the presentation of fifty-three works divided into three WGs, which represent the thematic research lines of the PPGDs involved in the activity. These are: (WG01) public policies in fundamental rights and jurisdiction: changing interconnections; (WG02) state, market, and society: equations of balance; and (WG03) public safety and criminal policy: the expansion of penal intervention in contemporary society. Of the total works presented, thirty-two were approved for publication in the event proceedings, in the form of expanded abstracts. These numbers, similar to those of the previous edition, confirm the involvement of students and professors, as well as the success of the working methodology, which fosters academic relationships between the Graduate Programs with common thematic lines and promotes internal dialogue among faculty and students from the Stricto Sensu Graduate Programs in Law at FMP, UNISC, and UNESC.

This edition also included a working meeting between professors from the three PPGDs to define goals and joint actions to be adopted, with the aim of improving the research projects under development within their research lines, promoting the exchange of knowledge and relationships between researchers from the participating institutions, and encouraging interaction between professors, master’s students, and undergraduate Law students.
